I wanted my little one to be an owl for Halloween. I searched around for inspiration and found quite a bit of it on pinterest.com. I crocheted Darwin's owl hat and loved the way it turned out. He liked it too. For the body I used a long sleeve brown turtleneck that I covered with different textures of fabric, cut into feather shapes. I then put him in brown leggings and crocheted little orange slippers for his feet. Overall I am satisfied. I think it came out very sweet. He will wear it tonight to walk around the neighborhood. We went to a Halloween event over the weekend and he wore it there too.
Happy Halloween Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Make it Monday...Fairy house
This weekend little man and I went to our local Waldorf school where they were having an event called " A Day of Enchantment". The kids all came in woodland themed costumes and built houses for the fairies. D was probanly the youngest one there helping mama build a fairy house. He wore his gnome costume and fit in perfectly. I even bought him the cutest knit kitten and a box of stockmar crayons for when he is a little older. Over all it was a fun day and we got to check out the beautiful and serene Waldorf classrooms.
Inspecting his materials
Mischievious little grin
Our finished fairy house. I am not too great of a fairy house builder but tried. We used a hollowed out gourd, some bamboo pieces, rocks, shells and pinecones as little trees.
Awesome idea. Hollowed out pumpkin for fairy or gnome house.
Want to make some of these for D
Sweet little kitchen area
More log blocks and rocks in baskets.
Shelf with wool knit animals, wooden toys and people.
Beautiful wool felt mermaid mural.
If you are interested in building your own fairy houses there are some great resourses out there. A very helpful book is called. Fairy Houses Everywhere....by Tracy Kane and Barry Kane
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Sensorial Basket
I saw this idea on the web somewhere (not sure where now) and knew I had to do it right away. I picked D up a bag of gourds from the grocery store. Each gourd with their own textures, some are bumpy, some smooth, some long and some small. I sat him down with this activity when he woke up from his nap and while I was folding laundry. He sat and took several of the gourds out and tried to eat them. It kept him busy for a good 15 mins.
Hum this one looks interesting
Maybe I will try to get this bumpy one
So many to choose from....
This is fun
This one already has a handle and is easy to grab

Fall Weekend with the little one
Had a very busy fall event weekend with my little guy. I know he is still young but never to young to start yearly traditions. On Saturday we went to our local green market where they have a fall festival throughout the month of October. Since, we live in Florida pumpkins don't grow here so they lay them out in a patch so it seems like they do. Darwin had fun sitting next to and trying to eat the pumpkins in the patch. He also enjoyed the music and loved dancing on the grass.
On Sunday me and the little one went to another family fall festival at Mounts Botanical Garden. It as a really nice event. The had butterfly, ladybug, bee displays. They also had some chickens, a turkey a bunny, as well as some retired grey hound dogs, which of course made the little one light up with a huge smile. I dressed him up as a garden gnome and he sure did get lots of attention. He really ejoyed his ride around the festival in the ergo carrier. We had a really nice time together just me and him.

This Moment
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see- inspired by soulemama.com.

Our trip to New York
As some of you may already know I am a New York girl, not a NYC girl, an I live in the mountains of Upstate New York type of girl. I miss being home in NY so much that I dream often of moving the whole family there to live the country life. I am hoping that will happen some time soon, but for now all I can do is visit; which was what we did. I was so excited to bring little man to meet his family that he hasnt meet yet.. We stayed for about 11 days, which was not long enough at all. Little man had such a great time there. The highlights of his visit were seeing his grandparents and Aunt, being outside in nature, the cats, apple picking, going through a corn maze, his baptism, and being on the airplane for the first time.
Of course the week we chose to go the weather ended up being un-seasonable warm, boo! I was hoping for cooler fall air, and the leaves had only started to change. Next year I plan to go for Halloween, unless of course we have already moved.
